My passion for math started at a young age. After earning a B.A. from Amherst College and an M.A. from Columbia University, I jumped into teaching — and 32 years later, I’m still just as excited about helping students discover the joy of figuring out how math works.

I’ve spent my career teaching middle and high school math at two of NYC’s leading independent schools, Dalton and Riverdale Country School. I’ve taught students from pre-algebra through calculus, working with those who are looking for greater challenge, those who need to strengthen foundational skills, students with learning differences, and even those who insist they “hate math.”

What I love most is helping students learn how to think and build confidence in their ability to do math — wherever they are starting. I help students recognize patterns, make connections, ask questions, and become more comfortable taking academic risks. Sometimes the most important moment is the one when a student doesn’t immediately know the answer — and learns to stay with the problem.

After three decades of teaching, I know there’s no one way to learn math. I meet each student where they are, understand how they think, and help them become more confident, capable, and independent mathematicians.
